Transloading is the exchange of content into a different modality (type of equipment). Transloading is more dangerous and expensive since the goods (content) are handled.
The term Transshipment is sometimes erroneously used instead of Transloading. The word Transshipment should be used for different legs of a transport (wherein a carrier may change). Transshipment does not include any handling of the goods, change in container modality or any content-related service.
